Acupuncture treatment by prescription of points in combination

1. Local selection

- Ashi selection, use points on diseased area.

2. Proximal selection

- Choose points close to diseased area.

3. Distal selection

- As far away as possible from diseased area along meridian - Combine with command points and local points i.e. Du 20 – uterine prolapse Stomach 44 – frontal headache Kidney 1 – loose painful teeth

4. Syndrome selection

- i.e. insomnia due to Heart and Kidney disharmony (HT 7, Kidney 3 etc.)

5. Symptom selection

- i.e. fever – Du 14, Large Intestine 11 constipation – Pericardium 6, SJ 6, Stomach 25, 36
