Hello All
One of my patients just found out her son has Tourettes Syndrome and was asking how well Chinese Medicine treatment works with this. I have done a few google searches for "Tourettes Syndrome TCM" and "Tourettes Syndrome Chinese Medicine" and found a bit of helpful information.
The general idea is to treat Tourettes syndrome similar to that as the chinese disease category for Epilepsy.
My question for you is has anyone had any success treating Tourettes Syndrome using Chinese Medicine ? Any experiences or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks !

Tourettes Syndrome in Chinese Medicine
Tourettes Syndrome in Chinese Medicine is called "Twitching and Foul Language Syndrome" (Chou Dong Yi Hui Yu Zeng He Zheng).
The main patterns described in Bob Flaws book "A Handbook of TCM Pediatrics":
A- Wind Phlegm Evils Lingering in the Lungs
B- Phlegm Heat Harassing Liver Wind
C- Spleen Vacuity and Liver Hyperactivity with Vacuity Wind Stirring
D- Yin Vacuity Wind Stirring
Bob talks alot about the importance of Dietary therapy with Tourettes Syndrome when treating with Chinese Medicine. A Diet which decreases phlegm is imperative.
